How does Cookbox work?
A: Cookbox is a meal kit service available on the shelfsquad.com website. We want to enable individuals to cook and prepare delicious meals for themselves and their families, without the hassle of going to the shops to purchase the ingredients. We’ve partnered with some epic food bloggers and influencers to create some delicious, mouth-watering meals.

What are some of the meals that I can purchase?
A:We offer 4 different diet types, namely Vegan, Vegetarian, Family Friendly, and Low Carb meals, each of these are available in a 4 serving option.

Is there a monthly subscription fee?
A: No, there is not a subscription fee. Customers can choose what they want to order, whenever they want to. Thus, you can order as much as you like at any given time. Keep in mind it’s your responsibility to ensure that you have enough storage for large quantities of ingredients.

Where do you get your ingredients from?
A: We source our meat and chicken from farmers in the local area and we get our fresh produce such as vegetables from a fresh farmer’s market. This is to ensure that the end customer has the freshest ingredients in each box that he or she receives.

What should I do when I receive my Cookbox meal kit?
A: Once you’ve received one of our delicious boxes, you should try to place it in a fridge as soon as possible. We do pack our boxes with ice packs to ensure that the contents remain cool for as long as possible, but it is still your responsibility to store the box and ingredients in a cool place. Our boxes are designed in such a way that the contents can remain cool for 4 hours.

How long does the food stay fresh?
A: Our recipes are created with fresh ingredients from various suppliers to ensure that they stay fresh during the week. We suggest that you cook certain ingredients, such as fish and chicken, as soon as possible. The box is cooled with insulation that should keep the contents cold for at least 4 hours. This ensures that the food will be fresh when you receive the box, it is up to you however to place it in a cool place, preferably the refrigerator.

What if I am not at home?
A: If you are not at home at the time of delivery, then one of the following alternative plans could be made:

  1. Provide the contact number and the address of a neighbour that will be at home at the time of delivery and can accept the box on your behalf.
  2. Have the box delivered to your workplace.
    Please specify any of the alternative plans in the special instructions box when you checkout on the website.

How does the delivery work and when do I get my box?
A: We deliver our boxes on demand, therefore we are able to order fresh products from local suppliers to deliver the ingredients to you in the freshest condition. We have a delivery period of 2 days, please see our Delivery Schedule for more detailed information.

Which payment systems are used and are they secure?
A: PayFast, we have integrated with PayFast which has a 3D secure payment system for customers to choose to pay via EFT or credit/debit card.

What items should not be refrozen once thawed?
A: Chicken should not be refrozen if they are thawed. Once thawed, they can be refrigerated for up to 2 days.

Can I cancel my order?
A: Once payment has been made and the order has been processed, the order cannot be cancelled.

Is there a minimum order value?
A: No there is no minimum order value.

What is the cost of delivery?
A: We have a fixed delivery fee of R50.

Is the meat delivered frozen or fresh?
A: Meat/Chicken/Fish with bones in might be delivered frozen for food safety reasons, but we try to provide the ingredients as fresh as possible. Please do note that the quality of the product is not altered if frozen and therefore it is only for safety reasons that we do so.

What confirmation should I expect to receive after my order has been placed?
A: You will receive confirmation on the following:
Once your order is placed and paid, you will receive a summary of what you ordered which will be sent via e-mail.
A second e-mail will be sent with notice that the order is processed and will be sent out shortly.

What happens if I provide an incorrect shipping address?
A: If you notice any errors on your order please email us at orders@shelfsquad.com as soon as possible. If the order has not been shipped yet, we will happily correct the shipping address. Unfortunately, once the order is in transit, we are unable to reroute packages.
